Lac-Megantic Memorial and Oil Train Event

Start: Sunday, July 06, 201411:00 AM

This will be a memorial ceremony about the train explosion in Lac Megantic that killed 47 people on 7/6/13, one year ago.  After a short memorial, we will have very short speeches about addressing climate change and the continuing danger of explosive derailments in our local towns of Oakland, Waterville and Fairfield.  We hope to plant 47 sunflowers for the 47 victims.

We hope to attract media coverage, and the more people who attend, the more powerful this will be, so please consider coming and bring others if you like.  It won’t take long and it should be meaningful and you’ll get to meet with some very good and interesting, local people.

We’ll meet on Sunday, 7/6 at 11 AM at the Universalist Unitarian Church lawn, at the point where Elm St. and Silver St. meet.
