Let's speak for the Trees - March to Save Rock Creek

Start: Sunday, October 13, 2024 2:00 PM

The Rock Creek Park we all love is in danger under the hands of the National Park Service, as they move forward with their plan to cut down 1000+ trees to expand a golf course. But we know that the people of DC will not let that happen.

Join us as we Speak for the trees, loud enough so NPS is forced to listen. We will gather and celebrate all the gifts Rock Creek Park gives to us. We will celebrate their beautiful canopy, their life-giving presence, their strength, and their long and loving endurance. We will fight this deforestation plan with love as a way to show not only our gratitude, but our reciprocity.

The "Let's Speak for the Trees" march will be on Sunday, October 13th starting at 2pm. This will be a peaceful, joyous and loving demonstration.

We will gather beside the parking lot of Picnic Grove #6 and begin the march from there. To drive to Picnic Grove #6, take Military Road NW to Beach Drive NW and head north .2 miles from Joyce Road NW. (If you are driving, you cannot approach via Beach Drive from the north, as Beach Drive is closed to vehicles further north.) Do not count on GPS/Google maps to get you there accurately. Call if you have difficulty finding it - 202-494-2900.

More details to come.

“This is not our world with trees in it. It's a world of trees, where humans have just arrived.”— Richard Powers
