Lights for Liberty to End Concentration Camps

Start: Friday, July 12, 2019 7:30 PM

End: Friday, July 12, 2019 9:00 PM

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” - Inscription on the Statue of Liberty

Join together with hundreds of others to line El Camino Real at Castro Street in Mountain View to illustrate our opposition to the concentration camp system being used to separate families and destroy lives of immigrants legally seeking asylum at the US border. We will share actions you can keep taking to stop the horror, and ways you can educate others.

Over 600 vigils are being held on 6 continents on this day.

We begin our vigil at 7:30 by lining the intersection and surrounding sidewalks. At 8:45 we will begin our candlelight vigil, and we close at 9:00 with a mass reading of Emma Lazarus' stanza written beneath the Statue of Liberty.

Please bring your own candle - electric preferred but enclosed wax candles are fine (please no naked candles!). Bring your own signs. Limited sign making supplies will be on hand.
