These are precarious times. Whether you’re already in action or looking for where to start, this is the place for you.

1️⃣ The Problem: Feeling Alone, Overwhelmed, or Unsure Where to Start? WANT TO FIND PARTNERS FOR YOUR IDEAS AND ACTIONS?

The threats to democracy, justice, and our neighbors are urgent—and it’s too easy to be overcome by frustration, isolation, and uncertainty. Where can we plug in? Where can we find out what's happening? Where can we feature the good work already underway?

No person or organization can take on these challenges alone. We need ongoing, community-level spaces to recharge, network, share information, build partnerships, and supercharge ongoing and new efforts. We need a place where the local leaders and community members can discuss local needs and actions - but also bring in the national actions and resources of MoveOn, Indivisible, 50501, and so many more. How can we make all that happen at the community level?

2️⃣ The Plan: Join the COMMUNITY-BASED L.O.C.A.L. Summit #2

The Local Organizing for Civic Action and Leadership (L.O.C.A.L.) Summit Series creates the space in the central Shenandoah Valley (and perhaps beyond). The first L.O.C.A.L. Summit in February 2025 brought together about 150 people in Harrisonburg,VA to share ideas, make connections, and build resilience.

Now, Summit #2 expands the circle—welcoming new participants and moving toward real action aligned with 13 Key Strategies to Defend Democracy and Protect Vulnerable Neighbors.

• New and returning attendees will connect, collaborate, and take action.
• Structured Open Space discussions ensure the most important conversations happen.
• More resources and tools will be shared with those who sign up.

Whether you’re already in action or looking for where to start, this is the place for you.

Kids Zone - Parents and caretakers are responsible for their children, however we are working to provide dedicated monitors of a Kids Zone. Kids Zone includes a small nursery room with toys, and multiple table-top activities.

Food, Snacks, and COFFEE - Limited snacks and pizza provided. Juice boxes and kid snacks provded, as well. Please bring a reusable cup/mug for water. And of course there will be coffee!
