SEPTEMBER WEEK OF ACTIONS

Start: Sunday, September 17, 2023 1:00 PM

End: Monday, September 18, 202311:45 PM

Seize September for climate action: The summer of smoke-filled skies, scorching heat waves, devastating wildfires, and catastrophic floods is shifting public sentiment about the urgency of the climate and ecological crisis. President Biden, however, continues to follow the path of business as usual with the fossil fuel industry. We need to send him a message before the 2024 elections. In September, activists from all over the country will be gathering in NYC before the United Nations Climate Ambition Summit. This mass mobilization is crucial, and our success relies on each individual taking action. Unite to survive!

WILL YOU JOIN US?

Join us for an impactful week of action in NYC from Sunday, September 10th to Monday, September 18th, as we take on those in power to put an end to fossil fuel expansion and extraction.

ACTION SCHEDULE

On Sunday, September 17th, we'll be part of the mass March to End Fossil Fuels, standing alongside People vs Fossil Fuels—a powerful coalition representing over 1,200 grassroots, frontline, and national organizations urging President Biden to take immediate action.

  • Meet us at the Maine Memorial, at Central Park West and 60th Street(northeast corner of Columbus Circle). We will commence gathering at 12:00 noon and be prepared to depart at 1:00 pm.

WHY REBEL NOW?

Our message to the government and corporations – ‘You had your chance - now we’re stepping it up’.

In the midst of an alarming surge in extreme weather events, the disheartening reality is that the expansion of fossil fuel projects continues unchecked. To add to the disillusionment, the very figure leading the United Nations COP28 in December is none other than an oil chief executive.

Recently, Professor Sir Bob Watson, a prominent British climate scientist and former head of the United Nations climate body, voiced his belief that the target to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius will be missed. We have been betrayed and our children left without a future..

This betrayal should serve as a powerful wake-up call to all humans. As individuals, we have a moral duty to act. We must not be demoralized; we should rise to the occasion. We must take charge of our civilization’s future.
