March with the NYC-DSA Queer Caucus at the 2024 Queer Liberation March!

Start: Sunday, June 30, 202411:00 AM

Join the NYC-DSA Queer Caucus at the 2024 Queer Liberation March! The event will start at Sheridan Square in lower Manhattan at 11am. We'll meet up on the corner of Barrow St. and West 4th St. Look out for a giant red NYC-DSA Queer Caucus Banner to find our group! All comrades (including allies) are welcome to join us.

Since the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in 2019, the Queer Liberation March is an annual event that attempts to reclaim Pride from corporations and the cops and to re-center economic & racial justice and the fight for queer & trans liberation. Frustrated that the Pride parades in NYC had strayed much too far from the spirit of the Stonewall Rebellion and become a bastion of pro-cop, pro-corporate pinkwashing, queer activists including members of NYC-DSA's Queer Caucus, formed the Reclaim Pride Coalition in 2019. As stated on the Reclaim Pride Coalition website, "We March in our communities’ tradition of resistance against police, state, and societal oppression, a tradition that is epitomized and symbolized by the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion. We March to celebrate our communities and history, in solidarity with other oppressed groups, and to demand social and economic justice worldwide—we March for Liberation!"

For more information on the march, including accessibility information, visit the Reclaim Pride website and the Queer Liberation March Instagram page.

The NYC-DSA Queer Caucus seeks to provide a space of community building, support, and advocacy for trans and queer comrades within a largely cis and straight organization. The Queer Caucus was a core group in organizing the 2019 Queer Liberation March, which in its first year mobilized 45,000 to march for Queer Liberation and against Rainbow Capitalism. Recognizing the essential intersection between Queer Liberation and dismantling the police and carceral state, exemplified in the community uprising that was the Stonewall Riots, the Caucus has also incorporated abolitionist reading, letter writing to incarcerated individuals, sex worker advocacy, as well as other solidarity work. We hold monthly meetings, social gatherings and political education events. We can be contacted at queercaucus@socialists.nyc, and are on Instagram at @queerdsa.
