May 14th Florida State Capitol Action

Start: Monday, May 14, 2018 2:00 PM

SOMEBODY'S HURTING OUR PEOPLE: Children, Women, and People with Disabilities in Poverty

On Monday May 14th in Tallahassee and in over 30 states across the country as well as in D.C., the poor and dispossessed, alongside people of faith and conscience will take action together to challenge our distorted national morality. We will take up the unfinished work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King to become "a new and unsettling force in our complacent national life."

The day will start with a Pre-Action Training at 9:30, followed by a  speak-out and action at the Capitol at 2:00. If you are considering engaging in nonviolent moral fusion direct action, you must attend a mandatory Pre-Action Training on the morning of Monday May 14th. All are welcome to attend the speak-out and serve as moral witnesses at the Capitol. Only those who attend the Pre-Action Training will be allowed to engage in nonviolent civil disobedience.  Click here for more information about the Pre-Action Training, or to make reservations for accommodations for Sunday or Monday night in Tallahassee.

This week's event will focus on Women, Children in Poverty, and People with Disabilities.  We will hear directly from those impacted by systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, and ecological devastation; faith leaders; and moral change agents. We will come together to sing, learn, take action, and build community as we begin to change the moral narrative at our State Capitol and across the Nation. We will join together to publicly reject the belief that in the wealthiest country there should be millions of us that are homeless, without healthcare, or access to clean water.

Will you take up the baton? Complete the form on the right to register. There is no cost to attend. Hope to see you there!
