May Day Coalition Open Meeting
Start: Saturday, May 17, 2025•10:00 AM
End: Saturday, May 17, 2025•12:00 PM

On May Day, over 3,000 of your neighbors across Maine stood up against the attacks on our unions and social services that keep us safe, and you stood in solidarity with immigrant workers and our LGBTQ siblings.
Never in recent history have half as many Mainers rallied for International Workers Day. Let alone on a Thursday. Our rally connected the issues faced by dozens of unions, community groups, and organizations, and together showed that there is strength in our solidarity.
The fight for the future you deserve doesn't end in a single-day rally. Do you want this moment to become a movement? Come to a public meeting open to everyone who wants to help stand up against attacks on workers, unions, social services, and our immigrant and transgender siblings.
This hybrid meeting will be on Saturday, May 17th 10am - 12pm (will start promptly). Join live at the first Parish Church in Portland. Register on Zoom to join remotely.
Our slogan on May 1 was “Strength in Solidarity”; that’s the idea behind Saturday’s organizing meeting. The team who coordinated May Day will report on the rally in Portland, around the state, and around the country. We’ll then brainstorm together and participate in democratic decision-making to figure out our next steps.
We have a great foundation to build on. Dozens of organizations were involved in the planning of our May Day rally. This includes union members like teachers, nurses, postal workers, graduate students, shipyard workers, state workers, librarians, and many more. They were joined by LGBTQ+ , Gaza solidarity, immigrant rights activists and more.
Together, we can design the path to a better future for all Maine working class people.
In solidarity,
Maine May Day committee
