Across Connecticut, rents and evictions are skyrocketing. Nearly 600 children in the New Haven Public Schools are unhoused, and Mayor Elicker’s response is to bulldoze the tent cities where unhoused people are creating safety and community. Predatory landlords, corporate CEOs, and investors have rigged the rules in Connecticut. They are seizing more and more wealth at the expense of the people and the planet, especially Black and Brown people and women. During the pandemic, just 12 billionaires in Connecticut accumulated $15 billion on the backs of working people.

In the richest state in the richest country in the world, working people are demanding a moral budget for Connecticut, one that would make the super rich and corporations pay what they owe in taxes, and invest in childcare, public education, expanded mental health and addiction services, and Husky healthcare for immigrants. Together we can shape our lives and claim our future.
