Yajaira Gage, Legislative Assistant for Senator Tom Umberg, will join us on Thursday, March 27 at 11:30 am PDT on Zoom

Senator Tom Umberg has represented the 34th Senate District, which includes much of northern Orange County and the cities of Santa Ana and Anaheim, since 2018. He served in the Assembly from1990-1994 and from 2004-2006; he has also run for Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, and Orange County Board of Supervisors.

He has an extensive military career including service at the Korean DMZ and and overseas deployment for three tours.  In addition to his overseas deployments, Colonel Umberg was assigned as a paratrooper with the Army Special Operations Command and the XVIII Airborne Corps.

A former federal criminal prosecutor, Senator Umberg is currently the Chair of the Judiciary Committee and sits on the Transportation, Military and Veterans Affairs, and Revenue and Taxation committees. His extensive bill package this year includes SB 42, a second try to put significant campaign finance reform on the ballot.

We look forward to meeting with Legislative Assistant Yajaira Gage, and hearing about the Senator's views on the nexus between climate and state revenue, especially as it pertains to subsidies for the oil and gas industry and other offshore companies, as well as legislation such as SB 222, Climate disasters: civil action, and SB 684, Polluters Pay Climate Superfund -- and other key climate bills that will come before the Judiciary Committee this year.
