🕯 Special Tribute to Children: Protecting Black Youth Art Walk — a reflective experience and living memorial honoring Black and Brown youth lost to racial and state violence.

Why This Convening Matters

We gather to affirm bodily autonomy and uplift the four tenets of Reproductive Justice:

  1. The right to have children

  2. The right not to have children

  3. The right to raise families in safe, sustainable communities

  4. The right to bodily autonomy

The stories of Emmett Till, Ryan Stokes, Mike Brown Jr., and Cameron Lamb remind us that reproductive justice is inseparable from the fight against racial terror, state violence, family separation, and the theft of Black children. That is why this convening also issues a clear call: Missouri must end qualified immunity, a legal shield that allows state actors to escape accountability for violating people’s rights. Without dismantling this barrier, true justice and community safety remain out of reach.

October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Yet, Black and Brown survivors are too often silenced and denied resources. As, Malcolm X stated , "The most disrespected person in America, is the black woman. The most un-protected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America, is the black woman". These words still ring true today. We are seeing an increased level of violence directed at Black women, femmes and gender non conforming people. By claiming October as Reproductive Justice Month, we give voice to ALL survivors and uplift their right to safety, healing, and community.
