Israel Salon | Miko Peled Speaks at Metropolitan Club
Start: Monday, September 17, 2018• 6:30 PM
The Committee for the Republic welcomes Miko Peled. As a third generation Israeli, Miko feels an intense obligation to hold his government accountable to equality under law and the high moral standards of Judaism. To bring lasting peace in Palestine, he backs the Palestinian call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) and calls for the creation of a single democracy with equal rights on all of historic Palestine.
In his memoir, “The General’s Son, Journey of an Israeli in Palestine”, Miko writes powerfully about how his human rights activism led him to reject Zionism. His testimony makes the strongest case for one state as the only viable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Committee for the Republic is a citizen-based, non-partisan, nonprofit organization founded in 2003. The Committee sponsors speakers monthly on challenges to the American Republic, including the military-industrial complex, too-big-to-fail banks, campaign finance, and U.S. competitiveness.
