Join us for the official launch of the Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition!

We'll share about our coalition's work, showcase inspiring projects/initiatives, and provide ways to get involved. Our goals are to foster a grassroots movement for zero waste, engage our community in this critical issue that underpins the climate emergency, and broaden our coalition. The event will include:

  • State Representative Frank Hornstein, a zero waste champion, on the history of our movement and where we're going
  • Overview of our state zero waste policy platform and how the closure of the HERC trash burner is creating a major opportunity for a transformation in how we deal with waste in the state
  • Brief presentations from community groups doing some groundbreaking work around waste at the intersections of food, environmental justice, reuse, reduction, etc.
  • Tables featuring various groups, as well as action stations -- creative installations hosted by community partners featuring engaging activities ranging from clothing swaps to product maps, dioramas, and more

Food will also be provided. Please bring your own bottle/cup for water.

Join us!

Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition

Who We Are:

Established in early 2023, we are an alliance of Minnesota-based organizations, environmental justice advocates, waste experts, sustainable waste service providers, and community members committed to advancing a future for Minnesota without waste.

Our movement centers the voices and experiences of frontline communities, who are most negatively and directly impacted by the extraction of resources, production of goods, and disposal of waste. With equitable zero-waste solutions, more people will have access to clean air, fresh water, green jobs, and healthier neighborhoods.

What We Stand For:

Environmental Justice: We prioritize Environmental Justice (EJ) and center EJ principles in our engagement, outreach, policy advocacy, and program development.

An Inclusive Movement: Everyone has a role to play in reducing waste and reaching Zero Waste. Organizations and individuals supporting our waste reduction goals, protecting precious resources, and environmental justice are welcome to join the movement.

Waste-Free World: We are committed to collectively advocating for policies and community programs that drive us towards a healthy, just, and waste-free world.

We look forward to seeing you Dec 4th!

Sincerely,

Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition
