MVMT-LA: Earth Day!

Start: Wednesday, April 22, 202011:30 AM

RSVP FOR THE FULL WEEK OF ACTION HERE!

On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, April 22, a coalition of climate justice organizations from Los Angeles — collectively known as MVMT LA — is uniting to act on the climate crisis.

In the midst of the COVID-19 public health crisis, climate change remains an ever-looming existential threat, and there is no time to wait for one crisis to be resolved before addressing another. Climate activists around the globe have turned to digital solutions to take the place of mass gatherings. However, in order to have the same political power as an in-person rally, we are relying on our influential allies to amplify our Earth Day actions so that they are as big and widespread as possible! By participating in our actions, others will be inspired to do the same.

Despite its global reputation as a climate leader, California remains one of the largest oil-producing states in the country. Los Angeles itself is home to the largest urban oil field in the nation, where active oil wells drill for fossil fuels near homes, schools and parks. Together, striking youth will demand Mayor Garcetti and Governor Newsom act immediately to protect frontline communities and our climate future by phasing out fossil fuel production in Los Angeles and California.
