National Walk-In to Reclaim Our Schools

Start: Thursday, October 06, 2016 6:45 AM

On Thursday, October 6th, 2016, We are joining with The Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools (AROS), linking together parents, educators, students, school staff and community members in dozens of cities across the country TOGETHER and WALKING IN to support the quality public schools that all our students deserve.

Given the never-ending attacks on public education, this event provides an opportunity to send a resounding national message that these are our schools and our communities. We want to ensure that all children have access to rigorous, engaging, culturally relevant curriculum, assessments that make sense and not high-stakes testing, teachers have what they need in order to teach, a school culture that supports and nurtures students rather than suspends them, wrap-around services, and transformative family and student engagement.

Let’s Stand Together to Send the Message that Our Students are MORE THAN A TEST-SCORE!

All KPS schools are participating. There will be guest speakers to address each crowd. Attendees are asked to wear RED to show solidarity, and there will be signs provided at each location.

Teachers, administrators, support staff, parents, students, and any member of the Kalamazoo community are invited to attend.

All Walk-Ins will take place 30 minutes prior to the start of the school day!

Thank you for your support!
