To become an event HOST, you will complete the event information on the next screen, and submit it to Action Network. You will need to login to your Action Network account, or create one.
To HOST your event, all you need is a good internet connection, somebody who can login to the Ben Jealous Facebook page, seats for your invitees and a good way to display the livestream. A SmartTV that connects directly to Facebook or a laptop with an HDMI connection are great options, but gathering around a computer or two is really all that you need. Once you register your event, you will receive all the information you need to set up for the event and publicize it.

Thank You for Hosting a Ben Jealous Medicare for All House Party!
The Jealous Campaign and the Blue Wave Maryland Coalition are hosting Medicare for All house parties statewide. The aim of the house parties is to engage and unify supporters around Medicare for All and the important issues of transition and funding that will be discussed during it. This house party toolkit includes party planning tips, sign-in sheets, agenda samples, and other important tools and suggestions for hosting a house party.
What is a Medicare for All House Party?
House parties are gatherings of people - they can be friends, neighbors, co-workers or anyone else you’ve chosen to invite - who come together to watch a live stream of Gubernatorial Candidate, Ben Jealous, talk about his plan to implement Medicare for All in Maryland, and also to learn more about Ben and his other policy initiatives.
Anyone can act as a host -- you don’t need any special skills. All it takes is a little planning & organization, and an excitement to support Ben. Your party doesn’t need to be complicated - the best ones are often the simplest! Some friends, maybe some snacks, sign-in sheets to collect everyone’s information, and somewhere to watch the live stream are all you need for a successful event.
Why Host a House Party?
House parties are important because supporters like you talking to the people in your lives is the single most effective way to build Ben’s campaign. People are more likely to vote for Ben when friends, family members and neighbors explain the issues and Ben’s desire to be a leader for Marylanders. These parties also provide an opportunity for attendees to sign up to help the campaign while having fun and keeping engaged watching the live stream.
Additionally, Medicare for All is something that most people don’t really understand. They are interested in getting better health care, but unsure of the details. This is an opportunity to hear about it directly, without hearing just a sound bite.
Specifics:
The Medicare for All livestream will be broadcast at 8:15 pm via Facebook Live video from the Ben Jealous Campaign Facebook page. We ask you to begin your viewing party between 7:00 and 7:30 pm. Expect for the party to conclude around 9:00 pm.
Event Goals:
1. Inform voters across the state about Ben’s plan to implement Medicare for All
2. Engage supporters with Ben Jealous in order to continue building support throughout the campaign
3. Amplify message of support through social media
a. Encourage your guests to share their personal stories on why they support Ben for Governor and Medicare for All.
b. Encourage your guests to take a photo using with Ben Jealous placards and Ben Jealous signs and share them on social media.
c. Videos and pictures can be posted online and tweeted to @BenJealous using the hashtags #CourageToLead, #MDpolitics, MDGov
4. Secure a commitment from your guests to volunteer and help out in future canvasses, rallies, events.
5. Send the sign-in sheet (attached in email) back to the campaign at nico@benjealous.com
6. Send pictures taken at the event back to the campaign at jealouscampaignphotos@gmail.com.
