Night Out for Safety & Liberation 2019

Start: Tuesday, August 06, 2019 6:00 PM

End: Tuesday, August 06, 2019 8:00 PM

August 6, 2019 is national Night Out for Safety and Liberation (NOSL). The purpose of NOSL is to redefine and reimagine what #SafetyIs for our communities – beyond prisons, policing, and fear. Safety is a concern shared by all, and this event is your opportunity to share what it means for you and your community. Is it access to healthcare, a learning environment free of violence, a positive workplace and living wage, or freedom to just be without fear?

We’ll be joined by community partners from Unidad Inmigrante, La Red de Solidaridad, Utah Sierra Club, Nopalera Artist Collective, Decarcerate Utah, and Elders Rising!

Our family-friendly event will include activities for kids of all ages – including banner painting facilitated by local artist Jorge Rodriguez, letter writing for the #ShutDownMTC campaign, a photo booth, a know your rights training, educational materials on transformative justice, and short presentations from the participating groups on what they’re doing to keep our communities safe and how you can get involved from 6:30-7pm.
