NJ-05 Bergen County Canvass in Teaneck, NJ

Start: Sunday, July 15, 2018 1:00 PM

End: Sunday, July 15, 2018 5:00 PM

Come Join fellow Swing Left Volunteers on the ground, along with Bergen Indivisible For Democracy, Teaneck Women Together, and the NJ5 Coalition, in Teaneck, NJ, for an afternoon of door-to-door canvassing. Make contact with with your fellow Democrats in NJ-05's Bergen County, right on the streets where they live! Recent victories in special elections continue to show, and many political studies confirm, that person-to-person contact is the surest way to have an impact on voter behavior, so we are going to talk to neighbors, identify supporters, and ask them to commit to vote in 2018!

If you have never canvassed before, this is an easy way to get started. We'll provide the walking information from Josh Gottheimer's campaign, and all the materials and training on the day, so just bring your cell phone and your enthusiasm!

There are less than 5 months left leading up to the most important midterm elections in the history of the United States! Swing Left is continuing its work to "Get Out The Vote" for those midterms and keep NJ-05 blue! Incumbent Democrat Josh Gottheimer is the number one target of the Republican Party in this election cycle. Josh became NJ-05’s representative in 2016, narrowly defeating seven-term incumbent Republican Scott Garrett by a margin of 51% to 47%. Garrett was a Tea Party Republican who opposed same-sex marriage and abortion rights and had defeated 20-year incumbent moderate Republican, Marge Roukema, in 2002.

The Republican Party wants this seat back! Swing Left and its grassroots partners are working to ensure that Josh stays in office by asking his supporters to pledge to vote in the November 2018 midterm elections, and by making sure that those who CAN vote are correctly registered to vote!

Come out and help us to help increase voter turnout in Teaneck for the November 6, 2018 election by a proven 4% through the use of the Swing Left Vote Pledge Tool and door-to-door contact!
