Do you have a car with a broken brake or tail light? Stop by and we’ll replace your broken light for free while we learn more about how we can have safer streets without police.

If you’d like to request a repair, please do so using the following form so we can be sure to have the right bulbs on hand: bit.ly/novadsabrakelights

And please spread the word to your neighbors!

If you’d like to volunteer to help us with the Brake Light Clinic itself, please let us know how you can help above, you can also attend our pre-clinic training session by signing up here.

Why are we doing this? Broken lights are used as an excuse for cops to pull black, brown, & poor people into the criminal legal system. A simple traffic stop can end in police violence, and trap poor folks in the criminal legal system. But - it doesn’t have to be this way. Seattle, WA, Berkeley, CA, and Cambridge, MA are among cities considering moving traffic enforcement from the police department to the department of transportation.

The bottom line is that: it’s time to rethink traffic safety. To truly make our streets safer for pedestrians, drivers, and passengers, DC should invest more in public transit, pedestrian-only zones, speed bumps, protected bike lanes, and more — reducing traffic accidents and reliance on cars altogether.
