NYC CLC Meeting Regarding Friedrichs v CTA

Start: Thursday, January 28, 2016 3:00 PM

In preparation for the forthcoming Friedrichs vs the California Teachers Association (CTA) decision, The New York City Central Labor Council (CLC) is taking a number of proactive steps to provide assistance to our affiliates. Currently being heard by the United States Supreme Court, Friedrichs vs the CTA could effectively implement national public sector "right to work." We expect a decision on the Friedrichs case this spring. The CLC is going to be as prepared as possible, and we want to assure you we are doing everything in our power to assist you and your organization any way we can.

We are working closely with the New York State AFL-CIO to develop a variety of materials and resources to support you and your organization. In order to prepare, the CLC will hold a meeting in the hall of Teamsters Local 237, located at 216 West 14th Street. The meeting will take place at 3 pm on Thursday, January 28th.

This is a trying time for the American Labor Movement; it is essential for us to stand together—shoulder-to-shoulder—in-solidarity across sector and industry. We are here to support you any way we can, and will do anything we can to ensure your success. New York City is a strong union town, and has been a beacon of hope for workers throughout the country; we have no intention of allowing that to change.

Please RSVP for the meeting here.
