Oakland Hearts Public Lands

Start: Thursday, April 28, 201612:00 PM

End: Thursday, April 28, 2016 2:00 PM

Hello friends,

In the coming days, events will be held around the country to show support and love for America’s public lands.

I’m writing to invite you to a lunchtime hike and brown bag picnic on April 28 in Oakland

Here’s why: We were deeply concerned about the armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon earlier this year. And now we’re seeing a concerted push in Congress to privatize and industrialize national forests, deserts and other public lands by selling them to the highest bidder to be logged, mined, drilled, fracked, bulldozed and grazed.

We need a strong show of support for keeping public lands in public hands.

Can you make the event? Here are the details:

Date: Thursday, April 28

Time: 12:00 noon.

Place: Canyon Meadow Staging Area in Redwood Regional Park. From Park entrance at 7867 Redwood Rd, follow road to end and you will arrive at Canyon Meadow staging area.

A 1 hour hike along the stream trail should give us opportunities to stop and picnic as well as take photos. If you are planning on arriving independently be aware that there is a $5 parking fee.
