How do we bridge the gap between white folks who are only in community with other white folks, and white folks who actively try to never be in community with other white folks? We strive to be a space where white folks land when they want to work towards racial justice, regardless of where they are on their journey. Last month we confronted the white supremacy culture characteristics of fear of conflict and right to comfort by practicing being in relationship during moments of tension around our unlearning and antiracism organizing.
Unlearning white supremacy culture and responding skillfully to when our internalized racial superiority comes up is our work, and it is our responsibility to do this work together. Join us as we struggle together with figuring out how we show up for one another - wherever we find ourselves on this spectrum and in our journey.
Showing up effectively for one another requires presence and intention. As we collectively practice together, we expect people will be on camera, engaged, and deliberately focused on the ULC, however that is accessible for you.
Please bring social justice wins to share with the group, and email undoingwhitesupremacy@gmail.com if you’d like to volunteer to lead us in a grounding or a self-kindness mantra, or if you have events or a financial ask for a partner organization to share.
