October 6, 2020 Intro to SURJ SF

Start: Tuesday, October 06, 2020 6:15 PM

End: Tuesday, October 06, 2020 8:00 PM

Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) is a national network of people organizing white people against white supremacy and racial injustice. This summer, the murder of George Floyd and other Black people at the hands of the police has re-ignited a national movement demanding justice for the brutal legacy of racism in this country and around the world.

The San Francisco chapter of SURJ (SURJ San Francisco) invites you to join to learn more about how you can show up in this moment as an anti-racist ally. Find out about our organizing principles and philosophy and learn how you can plug in to this unprecedented moment in history. A Zoom link will be sent via email after you RSVP.

The virtual doors open at 6:15pm for a pre-meeting where you can get to know other activists and ask us questions. We highly encourage everyone to sign in at this time to get oriented to the space and to build community.

The struggle for collective liberation from the systems of oppression that hurt us all will not be won overnight, and will require us to build networks of support and mutual aid on a foundation of deep relationships that include everybody and we want you to join us today!

ACCESSIBILITY
  • Closed captioning and ASL translation is available by request. Please let us know if that would be helpful for you by Wednesday, September 30 at surjsf@gmail.com.

ABOUT SURJ

Through community organizing, mobilizing, and education, SURJ's goal is to move white people and people with white privilege to take action as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability.
