OGLMC meeting 5-5-25
Start: Monday, May 05, 2025•01:00 PM
Commission to discuss fracking
three wildlife areas on Monday 5/5
We have just received word that the Oil and Gas Land Management Commission will meet again on Monday, May 5, at 1 p.m. at the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Charles D. Shipley Building, 1970 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43223.
On the agenda is a presentation from the Ohio Attorney General's office (we don't know about what), as well as consideration of six nominations to frack public land:
- 24-DNR-0010 - Valley Run Wildlife Area - 3.64 acres in Carroll County
- 24-DNR-0011 - Egypt Valley Wildlife Area - 4,360 acres in Belmont County
- 24-DNR-0012 - Jockey Hollow Wildlife Area - 382 acres in Belmont and Harrison Counties
- 24-DOT-0013 - ROW Along SR 151 in Harrison County
- 24-DOT-0014 - ROW Along SR7 in Belmont County
- 24-DOT-0015 - ROW Along SR 821 in Guernsey County
We hope you can attend this meeting. We know it's hard to drive from out of town and discouraging to watch most nominations for fracking public land get rubber stamped yes. But it's important that we keep pushing back. We need to demonstrate that the people own this land and do not want it to be fracked.
This is a great way to meet like-minded citizens from across Ohio and talk with the volunteer leaders of Save Ohio Parks. We will have plenty of signs for attendees to hold to express your opinion about fracking our public lands. If you need a ride or can offer a ride, we have a carpool board here.
We do ask people who are coming to the meeting to register in the form on the upper right of this page, so that we can contact you in case of any last minute details or changes of plan.
If you can't make it in person on Monday, the meeting will be livestreamed from this webpage. Be aware that you only see the commissioners on the livestream, not any of the attendees, and at times the camera or sound can cut out. We hope to see you on Monday, March 5!
