CONFIRMED Candlelight Vigil to Stand in Support of DACA DREAMers

Start: Tuesday, September 05, 2017 7:30 PM

TONIGHT WE RALLY. Not only was DACA rescinded, it was done is a speech filled with hatred, racism, and xenophobia. We DO NOT accept that in our country.

That is not America. Todos somos immigrantes, and we won't forget that.

Together We Will Palo Alto/Mountain View and SIREN stand united with DACA recipients and all members of our community.

BREAKING NEWS: We are partnering with SIREN, Services, Immigrant Rights, and Education Network, on this event. We will have a DACA parent speak.

We are limiting speakers to those in the DACA community, or who support it (educators, social workers, attorneys, and related allies). If you wish to speak (briefly for no more than 3 minutes), please email us asap.

On 5 September, we will host a silent vigil in honor of DACA recipients. As their voices are being silenced in the face of fear, ours will be silenced in solidarity.

We will congregate at the corner of El Camino and Castro in Mountain View, at Gateway Park, at 730 pm, and at 8pm, proceed to Mountain View Civic Center Plaza, where we will stay for approximately 30 minutes.

We encourage you to learn more about what comes next to protect DREAMers after our vigil. You can join our group www.facebook.com/groups/twwpamv for one way to learn about becoming more engaged and aware of progressive issues impacting our community. Additionally:

Over the past five years, DACA has provided 800,000 immigrant youth protection from deportation, the opportunity for higher education and jobs, and more stability to our communities. Similarly, TPS has aided over 300,000 immigrants from Africa, Haiti, Central America, Syria, Yemen and other countries that have suffered from major catastrophes.

DACA recipients, immigrants protected under TPS and our allies have a message to the Trump administration: We have won before, we will win again, and we are #HereToStay.
