Operation Outreach

Start: Monday, November 11, 2019 8:00 AM

Homeless veterans need your help.

Join the AFL-CIO Union Veterans Council and Veterans on the Rise this Veterans Day as we reach out to homeless veterans across Washington, D.C. There are many programs available through the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs and the Government of the District of Columbia to help homeless vets, but many of them are unaware. You can help your fellow veterans who may otherwise be reluctant to ask for or accept help.

You won't be alone. Teams of three to five individuals made up of staff from Veterans on the Rise along with other professionals and veterans will visit homeless encampments and engage homeless persons to distribute materials and information.

This Veterans Day, you can help your fellow veterans get the information they need to improve their lives right away. Not a bad way to spend Nov. 11, is it?

Veterans on the Rise (VOTR) is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing a holistic system of care to fight veteran homelessness in the Washington DC metroplex. VOTR believes that no military veteran should be homeless in the shadow of National monuments and memorials built to honor their service.

The mission of Veterans on the Rise is to provide the resources and opportunities for each homeless or at-risk veteran to meet the personal and housing challenges they face in order to achieve maximum self-sufficiency.
