"Opiate of the Masses" or "Beloved Community"?: A brave conversation about histories of harm and inspiration, faith and socialist organizing

Start: 2021-01-06 19:00:00 UTC Eastern Standard Time (US & Canada) (GMT-05:00)

This is a virtual event

A continuation of our Socialism 101 series, we will be exploring the relationship between religion, faith, and socialism on Wednesday, January 6 at 7PM. We urge you all to come with open minds and hearts, and also a pen and paper for some personal reflection.

Religion is messy and personal; some of us have been deeply harmed by religious experiences and religiously affiliated communities in our past, others may feel alienated or simply indifferent, and still others derive our moral and ethical sense of justice from faith and participation in religious community. We will only scratch the very surface of this topic but hope it will open doors for us as neighbors, organizers, and comrades, to continue these brave conversations in pursuit of justice.
