This is a virtual event

This year on April 22nd OSPIRG Students, NAACP, Beyond Toxics, Our Climate, others will be hosting a virtual Earth Day Youth Climate Summit to take action for our climate. A new generation of climate activists know we need to act now for 100% renewable energy! RSVP for the Zoom link.

A warming planet puts us in the position of experiencing more extreme weather in places we did not see it before, and here in Oregon, that means dangerous wildfires. Climate change affects BIPOC Oregonians the most because they have been under-resourced for when disasters strike. A new generation of climate activists know we need to act!

Young people are at the heart of the climate movement. In this century, it is young people that are the first to feel the major impacts of climate change, but the last that can do anything to stop it. So this year, following sweeping examples of the impacts climate change can have on our society, that have only been amplified amidst the global pandemic, it is clear that the time to act is now. Oregon should join CA, and WA in committing to 100% renewable electricity!

We'll start at 2pm with a virtual rally featuring:

  • Aimee Okotie-Oyekan an organizer and activist with NAACP Eugene Springfield
  • Isaac V a plaintiff in the Youth v. Gov suing the government for the rights of youth
  • Eric Richardson the executive director of NAACP Eugene Springfield

This Earth Day is about action! Join a breakout group to learn, discuss, and act with:

  • BRING Recycling
  • OSPIRG Students
  • Our Climate
  • Beyond Toxics
  • EWEB
