ShoeStrikes are a safe way to protest during a global pandemic. Shoes and signs stand in for people at the protest.
ShoeStrikes began in Sweden in the Spring of 2020 and first went global on July 25th with ShoeStrikes happening across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Africa. Flagstaff, Cottonwood, Sedona, and Phoenix had their first ShoeStrikes on that day and these were ShoeStrikes for Climate Justice! to draw attention to the fact that tens of millions of people are fleeing climate disasters every year now.
ShoeStrikes will continue every last Saturday of each month until the climate crisis is solved or we can gather to protest in groups again. NAZCCA is a proud co-sponsor of ongoing regional ShoeStrikes here in Arizona.
