For decades, Black, Brown and Indigenous activists have called on white people to organize against racism and white supremacy in our own communities. Garrett Bucks founded the Barnraisers Project to heed that call. His trainings help white people move past the twin traps of polite silence and social media fights. The world doesn't need more white people hashtagging and yard-signing, but it always needs thoughtful, committed organizing.
Garrett's trainings equip average folks (people who’ve never thought of themselves as organizers) with the tools to move their social networks from denial and defensiveness to action. His methods have been tested in urban and rural communities; wealthy and poor; left, right and center. This training with Garrett will be specific to Whole Washington and help us learn the skills we need to better connect with our neighbors and grow our movement.
The training will be a two-hour online class focused on the following topics:
What is organizing and why does it matter?
What are the barriers to organizing for social justice in majority White communities?
How can you start showing up– in your community, in relationships, as a consumer of the news–like an organizer?
Join us and RSVP on the right.
