Palestine Solidarity Movie Screening: MAYOR

Start: Saturday, September 10, 202212:00 PM

End: Saturday, September 10, 2022 2:30 PM

Join us as we screen the film MAYOR", an award winning 2020 documentary about Palestine, leadership, occupation, and the struggle of Palestinians to live a peaceful life in the face of oppression. We follow Musa Hadid, the mayor of Ramallah, the de facto capital of Palestine, for two years. He is a city bureaucrat, a father, and a leader. Hadid deals with the daily struggles of being in an elected position where he must plan the yearly Christmas celebration, ensure trash gets picked up, listen and help his constituents, and handle the realities of the constant pressure of the occupation forces.

Middle Tennessee DSA is hosting this screening in conjunction with the Palestinian community. This screening is a way for our members and our community to learn more about the people of Palestine and the realities of occupation. We invite all to attend. We are also facilitating raising money for the people of Palestine--after the most recent assault on Gaza and Palestinian land, many Palestinians were wounded, displaced, and in some cases killed. We request for $10-$15 donation for viewing which will be redistributed to Gazans who are victims of the Israeli occupation’s most recent attacks. This event is free and we encourage people to donate, even if they cannot attend.
