Please join us for the 8th installment in our Peace & Justice Conversations Series: The International Day of Peace: A Query, A Quest and A Quandary. September 14, 7 pm.

Krisan Evenson will relate a tale of perseverance in the modern era, the establishment of a permanent holiday on the annual United Nations calendar, the International Day of Peace. Spanning the globe and several years, the holiday came into being by the force of will of one very determined individual, Jeremy Gilley. It took a lot of intercultural communication, conflict resolution, stamina, patience, personal resources, some empathic considerations and a slow deliberative process--mirroring, actually, the best parts of international relations and the world reflected in NHPA's vision. When we better know why and how this holiday is established, we gain a whole new perspective on what it means to make peace, beyond mere cessation of war. We'll showcase some examples of how NHPA has fostered celebrations of the International Day of Peace in recent years here in the Granite State.

COVID 19 has brought us to a new moment of reckoning and possibility. How do we want to live in the world? What do we value? How can we make the changes we've been yearning for? NH Peace Action has been engaged in working for change for decades. We'd like to take this moment to bring you into some conversations about issues and options for the future. Our new online abilities make it possible to come together across the state more easily to connect, learn and work for peace and justice. This bi-weekly Zoom series hosted by NHPA members will offer different topics of discussion for each session. Be part of the conversation!

You will receive Zoom link and instructions with your RSVP.  (Make sure to scroll down past the green "Thanks for your support" block to see the Zoom link)
