Peace & Justice Conversations: Nonviolent Theory in Action
Start: Monday, April 26, 2021• 7:00 PM
Please join Michael Ferber, Professor Emeritus of English and Humanities, UNH and long-time board member and resident scholar of nonviolence of NH Peace Action for a discussion of his nine theses on nonviolence (You will receive Michael's theses in your RSVP confirmation email, but you can also read them HERE). For the Peace & Justice Conversation, you will be invited to propose new ones or amend some of his.
After standing trial for conspiracy to violate the draft law, Michael had the good luck to teach a course jointly with Gene Sharp in 1969, so he's been thinking about the subject of nonviolence for a long time! If you are interested in how and why nonviolence works, or what factors determine its success, this is the event for you. Michael will talk about the study of effective nonviolence and incorporate the work of many of history's greatest scholars of the practice of social change through coordinated nonviolence."
