"We have a human right to a home: We mourn the loss of homes at Penn Plaza Apartments but this is not the end: We call for action: We stand together for our lives!"

This Friday, March 31st, the last of the Penn Plaza Apartment residents will be evicted from their homes so that LG Realty can tear down affordable housing and replace it with luxury apartments and a new Whole Foods.

We must acknowledge the violence and trauma of gentrification and displacement in our communities, and to demand action to prevent future harm!

So, this Saturday April 1 at noon, we are calling for a Memorial March Against Gentrification.

We will visit various locations in East Liberty and hear from speakers who will share their experiences of this neighborhood and its complex history. We will call out all of those responsible for this injustice, ending at Penn Plaza apartments, where residents will come together to say that we are still alive and we will keep fighting.

We will gather and march to grieve for all of the losses in our community.
We will march to grieve the dozens of local businesses that have shut down.
We will march to grieve for the long-time residents who are being displaced
We will march for and with the other neighborhoods at risk

Join us if you have been affected by displacement and gentrification. If you wish, bring your photos and other mementos for the memorial march.

Join us to show your support for those who have been affected, to affirm that we value all our neighbors and refuse to accept displacement. We will continue to fight for our rights to fair housing and inclusive communities across the city.

If you would like to come to the march and need help with transportation please send an email
