Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors Meeting - Balico Gas Plant and Data Centers
Start: Tuesday, April 15, 2025• 7:00 PM
Location:Pittsylvania Board Meeting Room•39 Bank Street, Chatham, VA 24531 US
Last year, fossil fuel developer Balico, LLC proposed to build a massive methane gas plant and dozens of data centers in Chatham, Virginia. However, the company withdrew its request in November after facing tremendous community opposition.
Recently, Balico submitted a new, staggered design that will be considered by the Pittsylvania Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, April 15 (Balico requested the decision be delayed from February to March, then to April). In its new application to the board, Balico is proposing less data centers than the number in its original application, but the company has plans to continue increasing the total number of data center facilities. Balico's proposal for a 3,500 megawatt gas plant remains unchanged.
The local community remains united in opposition to Balico's plans.
Support community members and show the county planning commission the scale of public opposition by attending the April 15 Pittsylvania Board of Supervisors meeting at 7 p.m. in Chatham, Virginia. Say NO to Balico! The venue for the meeting may be updated owing to crowd size, but if you RSVP, you will be notified of any changes.
