This is a virtual event

A huge amount of organising took place in Scotland in the lead up to COP26, both throughout and prior to 2021. Not only did the Scottish climate movement organise momentous actions at COP26, it worked alongside and provided support for thousands of UK and international activists. Alongside all of this, the movement relentlessly targeted fossil fuel infrastructure, with breathtaking wins.

We are at a pivotal point in the Scottish climate movement. We recognise that organising over the last few years took a lot of energy. Before we can strategise, we need to reconnect, take stock of where the movement is at, and look at what we need in order to reorientate and grow.

Following on from December's Climate Justice Gathering and post-COP debrief, join us at the Scottish Climate Justice Movement Assembly on Thursday the 24th of February at 7pm. Here we will look at what we have learned and built as a movement. How have the last two years of organising impacted us, what has been depleted in the movement and what do we need to grow back? We will then begin to look to the coming months/year so we have a collective understanding of key events and moments. Lastly, we will begin to do some deep thinking on what the movement needs to reorientate and re-focus itself, if that is discussions, sharing spaces or planning strategies.

We hope to hold a follow up, in-person event in the Spring, and this assembly will be an opportunity to feed into what that could look like. This is a vital moment to plan how we build the blocks that will allow us to collectively strategise, refocus and build power. We would love you to join this conversation!
