Poughkeepsie Poor People's Hearing

Start: Wednesday, March 27, 2019 6:30 PM

End: Wednesday, March 27, 2019 8:30 PM

Join the New York State Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival in Poughkeepsie on March 27th, as we hold a Poor People's Hearing to lift up the voices of the poor, directly impacted, and faith leaders, to build a movement and demand action to fight systemic racism, poverty, militarism and the war economy, ecological devastation, and our nation's distorted moral narrative.

We know that the issues most deeply impacting our communities are left out of political conversations. Therefore we are seeking to shift the narrative by shifting the narrators - telling our stories of struggle, resilience, and resistance. Sharing these stories is a first step in organizing a movement across historic lines of division, building power to be what Rev. Dr. King called "a new and unsettling force."

Speakers will include directly impacted residents and leaders from the Mid-Hudson Valley, who daily confront the evils of systemic racism, poverty, militarism and the war economy, and ecological devastation.

We hope to see you at the Poor People's Hearing in Poughkeepsie, March 27th at 6:30pm! Don't forget to invite your friends, family, and communities. Please share the Facebook event!

Childcare and light refreshments will be available!
