Public Hearing for the Forest Carbon Incentives Act

Start: Tuesday, March 26, 2019 8:00 AM

Thanks to supporters across the state, the Oregon Forest Carbon Incentives Act has been scheduled for a public hearing on March 26 in Salem!

HB 2659 would create more jobs and expand our school budgets in Oregon while helping to protect our forests from industrial logging. It's a win/win/win for the climate, our kids, our teachers, and sustainable loggers. Instead of the $300 million we now spend annually subsidizing clearcuts and aerial spraying, destroying our health and our environment, this bill would free up $200 million out of the total of $300 million for schools; the remaining $100 million would subsidize sustainable forest practices.

Whether you are a teacher concerned about Oregon's education budget, a student passionate about Oregon’s climate future, or an individual fighting for fair taxation and economic justice, we need you to show up in Salem and testify in favor of HB 2659. Together we can end harmful tax breaks and subsidies that fuel deforestation, extinction of wildlife and fish, and climate change.
