Racial Justice Learning Collective - Session 1 2024
Start: Monday, March 18, 2024• 6:00 PM
End: Monday, March 18, 2024• 8:00 PM
The Racial Justice Learning Collective (RJLC) is a monthly 2 hour in-person discussion space, which each centres around a pre-reading. Each session has a new topic, and content is written and facilitated by People of Colour (POC). Group discussion is key in these sessions- sharing our own thoughts and opinions, and taking time to listen to others’, is how we learn.
The RJLC is an idea that came from a group of POC from the Tomorrow Movement Naarm (Melbourne) team for the sake of our own leadership development, and to ensure that our local team is safe for us and other POC. It was started by us at the end of 2022 and has run continuously since then.
Read any pre-readings that were used in the RJLC last year in our 2023 Content List, and find our Naarm 2024 Content List for the most up to date event details and readings.
The RJLC was made first and foremost by POC, for POC, though it is a learning space where EVERYONE is welcome - as long as you bring an open mind. The content we cover in sessions is chosen because it plays a role in everyone’s lives, and throughout all aspects of life. The space is open to all Tomorrow Movement team members, friends, allies and accomplices across Naarm. If you want to prioritise justice and solidarity in your organising, this is your chance to show up and learn! The learning and discussions we have in this space should be brought back to our local teams and help inform the way we organise. You don't need to have attended any previous sessions of the RJLC to come along - it is simply an ongoing monthly offering.Tomorrow Movement is a youth-led movement (under 35). If you are only within a few years older than 35, you are still welcome into this space, however, we ask that you be aware of the space you take up.
Please bring along water, snacks, fidget toys and anything else you may need.
