Rally for Reproductive Justice
Start: Thursday, October 06, 2022•12:00 PM
Following the release of the Supreme Court Dobbs decision and the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and in the face of escalating attempts to curtail LGBTQ+ rights in state legislatures across the country, workers and students at over 30 colleges and universities in over 20 states are participating in a national day of action for reproductive justice, on Thursday, October 6th. The national-level demands are for a federal law that protects the right to the following:
Safe, legal, and accessible abortion
Gender-affirming healthcare
Free contraception of all varieties
Federally mandated sex education, including standardized curriculum on STI and pregnancy prevention as well as consent.
A group of organizers that includes students and workers from across Columbia University and Barnard - student workers, residential advisers, postdocs, student activists, library workers and support staff - is organizing a rally to join the national actions.
