Across the U.S., laws and policies targeting LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, and gender expression are on the rise. But how do these policies relate to religious freedom? And why should the Jewish community be concerned? Join Jews for a Secular Democracy and Keshet for a critical discussion on the intersection of gender justice and religious freedom. This webinar, moderated by JFASD's Nomi Joyrich, will unpack the ways in which gender discrimination is embedded in public policy at the local, state, and national levels—violating not only civil rights but also the First Amendment’s principle of church-state separation.

Our panel of experts will highlight real-world examples of gender-based discrimination, examine its far-reaching impact on individuals and communities, and offer practical tools for advocacy. Learn how to engage in informed conversations with family, friends, and elected officials, and explore what it means to be a strong ally in the fight for gender equity and religious freedom.

Panelists:

  • Rabbi Micah Buck – Director of Education and Training, Keshet

  • Lanie Cohen – Community Mobilization Manager, Keshet

  • Michigan State Senator Jeremy Moss – 7th District
