Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice Louisville
Start: Saturday, September 08, 2018•10:00 AM
September 5 update. Everything is still a “go” as shown in the schedule below. Speakers are all lined up, draft resolution is done, and Metro Council persons should be there. We plan to start right at 10:00 (music at 9:45). Please come!
On September 8, thousands of rallies will be held in cities and towns around the world to demand our local leaders commit to building a fossil free world that works for all of us.
Join us as we hold our local leaders to account and demand that they walk the talk on climate action. As part of the rally we intend to present Louisville Metro Council with a draft resolution that will call for a community-wide goal of 100% renewable energy by a certain date.
Please contact the host if you'd like to help plan. Volunteers always needed.
Here is an outline of the event:
10:00 -10:45: Rally on Metro Hall steps. Includes presenting a draft 100% renewables resolution to a Metro Council person.
10:45 - 11:15: March around the downtown area.
11:15 - 1:00 p.m. A "Rising Fair" across the street at Jefferson Square Park, family-friendly event that will include: continuous live music, a voter registration table, an action table, a variety of exhibitors, puppets, and more.
So please RSVP. Help us show Metro Council and other local leaders that we mean business, and help us celebrate the promise of a fossil-free future.
