Hi there!

The air is clearing and we are on track to have an amazing Basic Income March event in Oakland this Saturday. We are so excited and hope you are as well!

Below are the details of the event, including the schedule, route, starting location for cars, and information about an important Eviction Art Installation we are doing along the route.

Schedule:

  • 12:00 - 12:45pm: you arrive at the starting location, and finish getting signs and cars decorated
  • 12:45 - 1:00pm: prepare to parade! Street corner protesters move to the sidewalks on the route
  • 1:00 - 2:00pm: Car parade in action, driving multiple loops around designated route (see below)
  • 2:00 - 3:00pm: Park and gather at Eastshore Park at the Eviction Installation for a socially distanced group photo and final words

Car Parade Decorating:
Location: Grand Ave Parking Lot: 3270 Grand Avenue, Oakland, CA, 94610

We will have signs, banners, tape, window markers and all kinds of goodies and tools for you to deck out your cars to communicate to the community our mission to get basic income passed. Free parking will be provided for early arrivals.

  • Please arrive by 12:30pm so we can coordinate with drivers appropriately.

Street Corner Protesters, Eviction Installation & Voter Registration:
Location: Eastshore Park, MacArthur Blvd.

We would like to have some people hold signs along the route to cheer on the parade of cars and distribute information to pedestrians and people curious to know more about basic income. Let us know if you want to participate in this way ahead of time, or just show up to Eastshore Park prior to the Parade start time. We are also excited to have a team who will be registering people to vote at the park and the farmers market 1/2 a block away.

  • Please arrive by 12:30pm so we can coordinate with drivers appropriately.

Be sure to wear your masks, and bring bottled water and a snack!
