There is a crucial local school board election coming in two years where the majority 3/5 members will be elected or re-elected!!
And it is never too early to start preparing.
We will be hosting 3 school board candidate training opportunities starting in June 2021.

Training Sessions will be broken into 3 sessions to get the most out of the training:

WV Education 101- (Hierarchy of WV Education, Local School Improvement Councils, School Board Training, etc.) Tuesday June 29th

Organizing 101- (Recruitment of team, Meeting facilitation, Communication Skills, etc.) Thursday July 8th

Campaigning & Candidate Training- (Canvasing, Outreach, Public Speaking, and more) Thursday July 22nd

We really want to see you in person in a virtual setting to get the most and best experience of creating and building relationships with people in your region. But, we also understand that the times offered for the live virtual training may not fit your schedule.

Therefore we will offer a recorded version of the training with interactive questions to ensure your understanding of the materials and training. Please let us know in your RSVP which you will be able to attend. If it is a combination, let us know via email.

We will celebrate in the fall with a statewide meet and greet party where participants come together to celebrate and receive a certificate award for completing the training. (Date and location TBA)
Join us whether you are looking to become a stronger advocate for education or decide to throw your hat in the ring to run for school board or any other local election position.
Or just want to come and learn more about the system and how it is intended by state code to be a bottom up decision making process by the stakeholders instead of the commonly mistaken top down system.
