Lobby day

On May 17, workers and advocates from across the state will come to the Capitol in Hartford to lobby their legislators to support a Worker's equity agenda to raise basic labor standards for all workers – and pass predictable scheduling and expansion of paid sick days legislation.

Good jobs for everyone should not be a point of contention. Connecticut workers need these bills, right now, this legislative session. We need a workers' equity agenda. Join us this May 17 at the Capitol to ensure everyone in our state has a job they can rely on.

About the bills:

  • Predictable Scheduling: HB 6859 will ensure that all Connecticut workers have a job with a stable schedule they can rely on. Under the bill, workers in retail, hospitality, and food service working for companies with more than five hundred workers and large restaurant chains will receive their work schedule two weeks in advance, receiving compensation if there are any last-minute changes.
  • Paid Sick Days: SB 1178 will expand paid sick days to the more than 88% of Connecticut workers who are ineligible under our state’s current law. This disproportionately impacts women, especially women of color, because they are overrepresented in industries that do not provide paid sick days. SB 1178 will also increase the number of paid sick time workers can accrue and use per year and allow them to take paid sick days to care for their chosen family.
