Sempra Shareholder Meeting Protest

Start: Friday, May 14, 2021 9:00 AM

End: Friday, May 14, 202110:00 AM

Join our protest in Downtown San Diego on May 14th to protest Sempra’s (and SDG&E’s) ongoing efforts to grow fracked gas infrastructure, consumption and global export while opposing equitable renewable energy policies and investments.

Sempra’s Board has recommended a “no” vote on a proposal to bring its lobbying practices into alignment with the Paris Climate Accord (see slide 9). Read the UT article.

COVID-safe in-person protest / rally with creative arts and visuals.

  • Make and bring a sign (we'll have some there too)! If you prefer, feel free to participate in a bicycle and car caravan around the block.
  • We ask all participants to agree to our COVID-safe expectations: wear a mask, stay 6+ feet away from people not in your household, and don't come if you have been exposed or have COVID-like symptoms.

Share! Invite your friends to participate (link to toolkit with graphics and messaging).

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT: Fracked gas is a fossil fuel that heats our atmosphere much more than carbon dioxide in the short term. The process of fracking is extremely harmful to the health of the primarily disadvantaged communities and communities of color who live near extraction and refinery sites. While the science tells us we must leave fracked gas in the ground and embark on a just transition to renewable energy to meet our climate and equity goals, Sempra and its subsidiaries are actively lobbying every day to oppose these changes.
