Senator King - Day Against Denial

Start: Monday, January 09, 2017 2:00 PM

On January 9th, people in all 50 states will send a message to every US Senator: reject Donald Trump's reckless climate denying cabinet nominees.

The Day Against Denial will fight back against some of Trump’s most dangerous cabinet picks:

- Rex Tillerson, CEO of Exxon, for Secretary of State
- Scott Pruitt for EPA Administrator
- Ex-Gov. Rick Perry for Secretary of Energy
- Rep. Ryan Zinke for Department of Interior

The climate is changing, and anyone who denies it shouldn't be in the White House cabinet. It's up to the Senate to stop these nominations -- and up to us to show up in person to tell our Senators to fight Trump's Climate Denial Cabinet.

That starts with rallies with all of our friends and neighbors, calling out our Senators to do the right thing and reject the nominations, and having direct conversation with the Senator’s staff to pass along the message that we, as constituents and voters, do not accept Trump’s dangerous nominations.

Here is the plan for our event in Augusta: We will gather in front of Angus King's office for a brief (maybe 20-minute) vigil and take some pictures. There will be some signs there, and you are of course welcome to bring your own as well. Then we will go into the office to drop off a petition and some informational materials. I have confirmation from his staff that they will be there and will be happy to pass our materials on to Senator King. (If you would like to gather more signatures to add to the petition, please email me at gregkimber72@gmail.com so I can send you the document. You can also sign the petition when we meet in Augusta. Or feel free to submit your own letter.) When we are finished at King's office, if people are interested maybe some of us can head over to Susan Collins's office to drop off copies of the same materials. I am not expecting a huge crowd, but I have heard from several people that they are interested in attending. Please join us if you can!
