Meeting Highlights:
- We'll start with an abbreviated presentation of Oliver Anthony’s Rich Men North of Richmond video, followed by Billy Bragg's re-write/response song.
- We'll have a review and discussion of the recent Knoxville City primary elections and also the August 29 TN special state legislature session.
- There will be a report on the September 3 Labor Picnic at Tyson Park.
- Sept 11 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the Pinochet coup in Chile.
We will be joined at our by guest speaker Ann Jefferson, retired Latin American History instructor at UTK. She'll recount the story of this momentous event, which still reverberates today. - We'll have some discussion about the respective chapter communication venues which include: Action Network emails, Slack, Facebook, Twitter (now "X"), and the knoxvilledsa.org website. We don't have "single source of truth" for chapter communications because communication preferences are so diverse. There are also concerns about security, accounts being hacked, etc.
- We'll review the status of our chapter working groups which haven't been active during the past year. The respective working group chairs stepped back and others haven't stepped into the leadership roles.
Your participation is needed. We hope you can attend.
