#VigilForDemocracy and #SOSAmerica2019
Protest Caravan ⚫️ Thursday, August 22nd

On Thursday, August 22nd, Vigil for Democracy and SOSAmerica2019 vehicles will gather around our mobile billboard at the Intercontinental Hotel (888 Howard St.) at 11:30 a.m. Please drive your vehicle into the City and join us! Our vehicle caravan will follow our mobile billboard to:

San Francisco Federal Building @ 90 7th St.
ICE Building @ 630 Sansome St.
City Hall @ 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Pl.
and back to the Federal Building

Our vehicle will drive around the city of San Francisco for two hours before leaving the Federal Building. We will then drive our vehicle caravan via El Camino Real to the offices of:

House Rep. Anna Eshoo @ 698 Emerson St. in Palo Alto
House Rep. Ro Khanna @ 3150 De La Cruz Blvd. in Santa Clara
House Rep. Zoe Lofgren @ 635 N. First St. in San Jose

Our purpose is to drive our caravan with our mobile billboard featuring protest images and videos to the district offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the congresspeople. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the most powerful Democrat in office.

She has accomplished the impossible before. Let's do it again. She "needs to twist some arms to get our demands met"!

We are asking that Speaker Pelosi and these Congresswomen and Congressman help us. If we can’t follow one truck down El Camino Real, we can’t rise up like Puerto Rico or Hong Kong. This caravan is to experiment and teach the people and ourselves what’s needed.

Please join us to take action by driving in our caravan!

You can drive the portions you can, or the whole thing, or just show up to cheer us on as we drive on El Camino Real! Our estimated arrival times:

Eshoo's office @ 2:30 p.m.
Khanna's office @ 3:30 p.m.
Lofgren's office @ 4:00 p.m.

~ Please also join us the evening before on Wednesday, August 21st at the Intercontinental Hotel to hold vigil for democracy and demand that Speaker Pelosi take action. RSVP here for that event. ~

WE CAN'T WAIT

America is in crisis. We need action now.
Come join your voice to ours to demand that we begin demanding action  now.

ABOUT VIGIL FOR DEMOCRACY

Vigil for Democracy is calling on Speaker Pelosi to remove President Trump immediately.

We are holding vigil every day for 42 days from 12:00-2:00 p.m. PST at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco office during the Congressional recess (July 29 - September 8, 2019). We ask that you come whenever you can to join us, and stay as long as possible!

In each congressional district, we’re finding leaders willing to help host in-person vigils. We ask that attendees live tweet and post publicly, using the hashtags #VigilForDemocracy and #SOSAmerica2019. Photos and video clips are best, because they capture attention. We ask those who are unable to attend to tweet and post in solidarity. At a congressional office or busy intersection is good, but at home is fine, too.

The terms Vigil and Democracy were chosen to have positive, global resonance. We’ve already featured a French-American immigrant on a hunger strike, an 80 year old who has walked several miles for DREAMers the past 568 days, and even a protest poet from Australia.

ABOUT SOSAMERICA2019

SOSAmerica2019's goal is sustained, direct actions that snowball into massive protests.

When we say “sustained, direct actions”, we are looking to the examples of Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, and others. The incredible protesters in these places did not occupy specific spaces for long periods of time. Instead, they turned out in the streets again and again and again, each time in large numbers. After a massive protest they went home, regrouped, chose their next location, and took to the streets again. These large-scale, sustained actions applied continuous pressure on their governments as the people demanded change. In the case of Puerto Rico, these actions have led to the resignation of their governor.

On Wednesday, August 21, we will have coordinated actions here in San Francisco and in New York City, Washington, DC, and Miami. We the People demand that:

  1. the criminal president of the United States and his administration step down,
  2. we secure voting in our 2020 election,
  3. we end the dehumanization and mistreatment of immigrants immediately.

Join us on the 21st to make it clear that we, the ordinary people of the United States of America, will no longer tolerate the current state of affairs, and we the people will be taking our grievances into the streets to defend our Democracy.

COME JOIN YOUR VOICE TO OURS.
TOGETHER, WE ARE THE RESISTANCE UNITED.

NOTE: Vigil for Democracy and SOSAmerica2019 are committed to non-violent, non-destructive, peaceful protests. If you do not agree with our values, we ask that you do not attend any of our events.
