Shared Waters, Shared Values

Start: Friday, July 08, 2016 1:00 PM

On July 8th, join us to stop oil trains in Grays Harbor!

On July 6, 2013, an oil train derailed and exploded in tragic Lac-Mégantic, Quebec, killing 47 people. This year the third annual Stop Oil Trains week of action will call attention to the threat of oil trains across North America, the people who are stopping them, and the need for 100% clean and safe energy.

On July 8th, the Quinault Indian Nation and Citizens for a Clean Harbor invite you to join in Shared Waters, Shared Values, as tribal canoes, kayaktivists, fishermen and boaters land at the public dock at 9th & Levee Street in Hoquiam. We will march to city hall for a rally, followed by a Seafood dinner hosted by the Quinault. Be there and get the tee-shirt!

In Grays Harbor, we have stopped 2 proposed oil terminals and have 1 remaining in the permitting process. The final Determination of Environmental Impact Statement for Westway is due in late August. Let's tell the city of Hoquiam and the Department of Ecology that oil trains and terminals are too dangerous for our communities. We can #StopOilTrains together and show that clean, safe energy is 100% Possible right now!

Join our event on July 8th.
